Ruth feels the strain as Strictly eliminator looms

- BY STAFF REPORTER

INJURED Ruth Langsford will be performing for her place in Strictly Come Dancing against the odds tonight as the first elimination takes place.

The TV presenter finished in joint bottom place last week, and was last night forced to miss a vital rehearsal after pulling a hamstring.

But the wife of Eamonn Holmes (right) revealed in a video on her Facebook page last night that she was more concerned about having missed the rehearsal than her painful leg.

Determined not to let the injury defeat her, she announced she had started “operation hamstring get better”.

“I’m a little concerned because we went out to do our rehearsals on the Strictly dancefloor, and just before I went down I was in my dressing room and thought I’ll just walk through my steps to familiarise myself and make sure I know the routine, and I kicked my leg out and pulled a hamstring. I had to go to the physio and she wouldn’t let me do the rehearsal.

“She told me I have to ice it, take a hot bath, and then ice it again, take Ibuprofen, and then she is pretty sure it will be all right tomorrow. “But I have had no rehearsal. I am more worried about that than I am about my hamstring. Anyway, wish me luck. Operation hamstring get better begins now.”

Fellow contestant Simon Rimmer has warned that he may get emotional when he dedicates his week two performance to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster.

The TV chef (54) will take to the BBC One stage tonight with a waltz to Rodgers and Hammerstein’s You’ll Never Walk Alone — the Liverpool FC anthem, which was sung at a vigil for the victims last year.

“My dancing will be dedicated to them (Hillsborough victims), so I have to do them justice, as well as us,” he said.
