Fresh police appeal as teenager is buried
Tragic death of Jordan has ‘left a void in family life’
have revisited the scene of a fatal assault as detectives made a fresh appeal for information.
Jordan McConomy died after an altercation with another male in Londonderry in the early hours of last Sunday.
The 19-year-old, from the Rossnagalliagh area of the city, was buried at the weekend.
Hundreds of people gathered in St Joseph’s Church in Galliagh on Saturday to pay tribute.
Jordan’s white coffin was brought to the church in a horse-drawn carriage adorned with floral tributes.
His uncle told mourners that
his nephew loved his friends, his family and his girlfriend Leah, adding that there was now a “void in the family’s life”.
He said Jordan was “here today giving us strength, he will be here tomorrow, here next week and in our hearts for ever”.
Jordan sustained fatal injuries in an altercation in Derry’s William Street area on September 24.
Early yesterday morning police returned to the scene in an attempt to unearth new witness evidence.
Detective Inspector Clara Heaton said: “We appreciate some people may have been in shock last week and also that recollections can be clouded by the effects of alcohol at the end of a night out.
“We also displayed some postPOLICE ers of Jordan last night in an effort to further jog people’s memories.”
An 18-year-old male arrested in connection with the incident was released on Thursday pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
