NI company to open £20m Hilton hotel in England
A NORTHERN Ireland investment firm is building a £20m Hilton hotel.
Norlin Ventures said it is adding to its “growing portfolio” with the announcement that it will open the hotel in Peterborough.
The Belfast-based company, operating under its Norlin Hotels subsidiary, has agreed a deal with Peterborough Investment Partnership to bring the Hilton Garden Inn brand to its Fletton Quay development.
The nine-story building will boast 160 bedrooms and a ‘sky bar’, becoming a “landmark feature of Peterborough’s city centre riverside regeneration project”, the firm said.
Richard Irwin, director of Norlin Hotels, said: “Our successful partnership with Hilton began with our acquisition of Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport.
“Hilton Garden Inn Peterborough marks a further collaboration and we look forward to welcoming guests to what will be the city’s finest hotel.”
Norlin Hotels revealed that it has plans to build further Hilton franchises across the UK and Ireland. The company is also developing the former B&Q site at Belfast’s Boucher Road and the Quayside Shopping Centre in Londonderry.
And it runs a team in the British Touring Car Championship — BTC Norlin Racing.
Elsewhere, a number of hotels are at various stages of development in Belfast.
They include a Premier Inn close to Belfast International Airport, which has taken its latest step forward.
The £5m, 81-bedroom development has now gone out for public consultation.
It’s being built by Moorefield Contracts.
Around 30 jobs are expected to be created in the construction phase, and a further 30 once it opens.
And Hastings has revealed that its 304-bedroom hotel in the city will open its doors next June.
The £53m Grand Central will become Northern Ireland’s largest hotel when completed.
More than 150 jobs will be involved in the scheme.
Elsewhere, the new Titanic Hotel has opened up across the road from the popular Titanic Belfast tourist attraction.
