Torching of van and car in east Belfast being treated as hate crime
AN arson attack on a van in east Belfast is being treated as a hate crime, police have said.
The vehicle parked in Bramcote Street was targeted in the early hours of yesterday.
Police received reports that the white Peugeot Boxer van was on fire at around 3.50am.
The vehicle and a nearby parked car were seriously damaged as a result of the attack.
The PSNI has asked anyone with any information about the incident to contact them at Strandtown on 101 quoting reference number 475 15/10/17. Meanwhile, police in north The van in east Belfast was set ablaze in what police say was a hate crime. Inspector Tony Frazer said the fire was reported to police just before 3.30am.
The Fire Service attended and extinguished the blaze, which is being treated as arson. There were no reports of any injuries as a result of this incident.
Mr Frazer added: “Our enquiries are at an early stage and I would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information about this incident to contact police at Tennent Street on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
