POLICE investigating the murder of a young mum in a Co Fermanagh road crash have arrested a fifth person.

Natasha Carruthers (23) died following the smash on Derrylin’s Newbridge Road just before midnight on Saturday, October 7, in what police originally believed was a “one-vehicle crash”.

Another woman and a man, also believed to be in their 20s, were taken to hospital with serious injuries after the incident during which the car Natasha was travelling in hit a tree.

Last Thursday — five days after the crash — the PSNI revealed that they were treating the collision as murder and are searching for a second vehicle which is believed to have been involved.

Yesterday police made a fifth arrest.

A 27-year-old man remained in police custody last night being questioned on suspicion of murder.

Two men, aged 20 and 40, who were being questioned about the crash were released on bail last Friday. Two women were also arrested in connection with Ms Carruthers’ death.

A 20-year-old woman, who was arrested for allegedly per- verting the course of justice, was released on Thursday and a file was sent to prosecutors.

A 32-year-old woman was released on bail on Saturday pending further enquiries.

Ms Carruthers, who attended Devenish High School, was a mother of one from the Letterbreen area.
