DUP’s Donaldson appears to welcome possible papal visit to NI

-

Sean McNally: What’s going to happen is the PUP and the UUP are going to use this as a means to attack Donaldson, then he will try to out-unionist those who criticise him, then they will try to out-unionist him even more in return, then it simply becomes a ludicrous contest, where they all compete to rubbish the idea.

Colin Hynds: Arlene Foster said she would meet the Pope if he were to visit Northern Ireland in his capacity as “head of state”, but not as head of the Holy Roman Catholic church.

Jack Hemsworth: At least she’s honest. A Shinner mayor refused to meet the future head of state and head of the Church of England. Are you saying he is wrong, too?

Derek Blackshaw: No surprise in his words, with the magnifying glass of the British media hanging over the DUP’s heads.

Damien McNally: It would be interesting to see what the Pope thinks of the new Irish PM and Sinn Fein’s political stance. It looks like his flock have headed in a different direction over the years.

Martin Fitzpatrick: Northern unionists and the Roman Catholic Church are like peas in a pod. They share almost the exact same religious dogma the rest of us have left in the past. So, I can understand their enthusiasm.

Sharon Collins: On the same day the Irish PM is mentioning De Valera’s neutrality during the war. De Valera signed Hitler’s condolence book.

Sharon Collins: Maybe you folks should check out the archives and not propaganda. Disturbing documents are held in the archives.

Thelma Adnett: Oh, Arlene. Please wise up. What difference does it really make? He is head of the Roman Catholic Church. Why did you go to the chapel for your deputy’s funeral?

Simon Hemphill: The more secular this place becomes, the better it will get for everyone.
