SF and family of Patsy Kelly visit Downing Street to present petition

-

Hester Jo: What about a petition for the Disappeared? I’m sorry for all who have suffered in the Troubles, however the Shinners love to play the victim. It must be in their genes, or taught in school.

Francis McCann: Patsy was an independent nationalist councillor. He wasn’t attached to any political party.

John McGowan: Iwasat a presentation in Dublin to Senator Mitchell three, maybe four, years ago and he spoke very well. He said that, at the start of his assignment, David Ervine stated in the presence of all parties that he (Mitchell) needed to understand one thing: that Northern Irish politicians would go far out of their way to be offended by very little. David elicited huge laughter and applause from all sides. Rest in peace, David Ervine — wish you and the PUP were still around. Socialism is such a one-sided affair in Northern Ireland and that’s a large part of the issue.

Matt Jones: I only met David Ervine a few times, but he (so far) has been the only politician who I believe everything that came out of his mouth. He told no lies, or excuses, for the life he had before and came across as genuinely wanting to see progress in this country.

Scott McDowell: Give us peace. Always trying to remain relevant by

playing the victim.

Steve Collins: So, Patsy Kelly wasn’t a victim then, Scott? How about his pregnant wife and family? Or are they only “playing the victim”, too?

Scott McDowell: Steve, there were many, many victims in this country. I’m just stating that Sinn Fein have a cheek to lobby for victims considering they created many of them.

Aodhan MacGabhann: A life is a life and everyone deserves justice for who has died. Whether they be represented by nationalist, or unionist politicians, it doesn’t matter. Everyone deserves justice for those killed and politicians from any party have the right to demand that justice on behalf of the families.

Scott McDowell: So, will Sinn Fein be lobbying on behalf of Jean McConville’s family? Or will it be the usual cherry-picking?
