Varadkar keeps open mind over May’s redraft of border deal

Steph Mills: He’s right when he says he’d like to hear from the other parties in Northern Ireland. Wouldn’t we all? The DUP presume too much and are not the only voice here.

Stevie Ritchie: Sinn Fein could have a great voice — if they sat in Westminster. Let’s not forget nationalists voted out their only voices in the SDLP by voting in a party which refuses to take their seats.

Steph Mills: They won’t, because they’re republicans. But we have other parties who haven’t been allowed to have a voice because of the two-party stranglehold.

Paul Connolly: Stevie Ritchie, so are you saying any party that hasn’t an MP shouldn’t have a say, either? Sinn Fein’s seven MPs wouldn’t have made a difference. Do the math.

Neil Gillespie: Paul Connolly, yes they would, because some Tories always rebel against certain votes in the House regarding Brexit, so if Sinn Fein actually took their seats, they could hold all the cards with their votes.

Angela Duffy: Fortunately, Sinn Fein can’t be the excuse this time for DUP failings. They have shown their true colours this time. Most people in the north of Ireland have had enough of it being everyone else’s fault except theirs. Not fit to wipe anyone’s shoes — let alone be a party for people here.

Stuart Neilly: When it comes to Northern Ireland, it’s only the DUP, the Shinners and an Independent who have seats in Parliament.

Angela Duffy: “DUP fighting for Northern Ireland”? What a joke.

Gordan Phillips: I wonder if this is what Arlene Foster’s phone call with the PM was about — telling her to reword it in order to sell it to the DUP?
