Bangor planning to turn tables on Sligo while other clubs sit it out

WITH the weather taking its toll, a slimmer version of the AIL will be in play today.

Division 2B has proven to be a complete write-off for Ulster clubs as both Rainey Old Boys and Belfast Harlequins have been forced to cancel their home games.

Dungannon’s Ulster derby with City of Derry is also postponed.

In 2C, though, Bangor are hopeful of playing after this morning’s pitch inspection.

After three games without a win, player coach Lewis Stevenson’s team are in some need of getting a result when they host leaders Sligo a week after their narrow loss away to the same opposition.

The squad are keen to avenge last Saturday’s 9-7 reverse by producing a more ruthless performance.

Though the Upritchard Park club have gathered up points from their last three games, through a draw at Omagh and two narrow defeats to Bective and Sligo, they have slipped to sixth.

“We do need to win this week. We will click, the ability is there and we have a strong pack but we need to get scoring tries,” said the Director of Rugby Danny Curran.

Omagh, who are in fourth, will also want to hit the AIL’s break until January by turning the tables on Malahide.

Up in 2A, leaders Malone — weakened by Ulster A call-ups — are at Corinthians, while fourthplaced Queen’s University play their return game at lowly Greystones after losing to them last week.

Armagh, who are in sixth position, host Cashel, weather permitting.
