Wagner turns his sights on Chelsea after Seagulls beaten

- BY MARK WALKER

DAVID Wagner has little time to savour Huddersfield’s display in Saturday’s home Premier League win against Brighton.

Wagner said his side turned in one of their best performances of the season as two first-half goals from Steve Mounie halted a fourgame losing streak.

But the Terriers head coach must quickly turn his attention to Tuesday’s visit of Chelsea to the John Smith’s Stadium.

“I’m not sure Chelsea will be too much focused on us, but what I can say is we will be focused on Chelsea,” Wagner said.

“We’ve watched them as well before our game, so now we will enjoy this great performance, not only the result, the performance was very strong as well.

“From Sunday we will start to get very focused on Chelsea, which is the next game in front of us.”

Huddersfield maintained their habit of eking out the best of their resources at the John Smith’s Stadium and their fourth home league win of the season lifted them above Brighton into 11th place in the table.

Three crucial points were never in doubt once Mounie took advantage of some shoddy Brighton defending to head home his second shortly before the interval and the Terriers spent most of the second period chasing a third goal.

It was an unhappy return to Huddersfield for Brighton’s on-loan Chelsea forward Izzy Brown, who spent last season on loan at Town and played a key role in their promotion.

“To come back here was a great feeling, but the result wasn’t anything that we wanted. We were very disappointed in the changing room,” he said.
