Unhappy Haveron hits out at costly

- BY CONOR McLAUGHLIN

GARY Haveron is sick of searching for the positives from Glentoran defeats and has called on his players to address their form.

Saturday’s narrow loss to Cliftonville was the Glens’ third consecutive Danske Bank Premiership loss without scoring a goal and was enough to nudge the east Belfast side into the bottom half of the table.

Though their performance was decent at times and they were delighted to welcome Willie Garrett back following two years out injured — coincidentally back at the same ground he sustained his initial cruciate ligament damage — the Glens offered very little after falling behind to Levi Ives’ 68th minute blast.

The goal came when substitute James Ferrin, only just introduced for a punctured Garrett, conceded possession down the visitors’ right and Ives teamed up with Jay Donnelly before finding the net.

“Another individual mistake has cost us and that’s been the story an awful lot this season,” said Haveron.

“There wasn’t much in the game and I don’t think either goalkeeper has had much to do, but we’ve given Cliftonville once chance to get numbers forward and get at us and they’ve taken it.

“I don’t think we’ve deserved to lose and a draw’s the very least we should have been coming away with, but it was the same against Crusaders at Seaview a fortnight ago. It’s a results business and it’s the score that matters so, yes, there are positives to take from performances but it’s hard to do that when you’re not getting the results.

“We went down to Warrenpoint a few weeks ago and didn’t play well at all but we managed to win the game and, to be honest, that’s what we need to start
