Hornets don’t have a disciplinary problem: Silva
MARCO Silva insists Watford do not have a disciplinary problem despite Troy Deeney being shown the team’s fourth red card of the season against Huddersfield on Saturday.
Deeney was sent off in the first half at Vicarage Road for a wild lunge on Huddersfield’s Collin Quaner which reduced Watford to 10 men when they were already 2-0 down.
Silva’s side went on to lose 4-1 and have now failed to finish any of their last three matches without having a man sent off.
Asked if Watford had a disciplinary issue, Silva said: “No, I am sure about that.
“Until now you can talk about the red card for Miguel Britos (against Brighton in August). I agree in that moment, but for the others I am sure we don’t have an issue.”
Aaron Mooy scored twice, the second from a late penalty, as Huddersfield registered only their second away win of the season. Elias Kachunga and Laurent Depoitre were also on target, with Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure giving the hosts temporary hope with 22 minutes left.
Huddersfield had not scored on the road since the opening weekend of the season but manager David Wagner believes the drought was not a fair representation of their performances.
“Before the win against Brighton last week we didn’t look like a team that lost four in a row either,” Wagner said.
“You have to stay in the present, today was Watford and we’ve seen and know that if we perform to our best we will have a chance.”
