King Kevin all set to reign supreme at Wolverhampton

- BY ANITA CHAMBERS

KING Kevin built up plenty of momentum before the turn of the year and he can ensure 2018 gets off to a good start by winning the Betway Handicap at Wolverhampton.

The four-year-old certainly took some time to get rolling in 2017, finishing well out of the frame in six starts before a fair third at Chelmsford in October seemed to turn the tide.

With a couple of confidence-boosting placed efforts under his belt, King Kevin finally hit the target in a moderate Chelmsford event in November and has struck twice more in three starts since.

His two-and-a-half-length verdict at Dunstall Park on Boxing Day looked particularly useful and he is clearly an upward curve now, as evidenced by his 12lb rise in the ratings.

Outer Space is on his lowest ever mark and might have been found a decent opportunity in the Bet And Watch At sunbets. co.uk Selling Stakes.

Once rated as high as 94, he is now on a perch of 75 after a string of disappointing efforts but he is surely capable off this kind of mark.

His recent third at Wolverhampton suggests all is perhaps not lost and this is theoretically an easier test.

Tatlisu ended a lengthy losing streak when winning at Wolverhampton last month and he can build on that in the sunbets. co.uk Top Price On All Favourites Claiming Stakes at Southwell.

The popular eight-year-old is a long way removed from his Ayr Silver Cup winning days back in 2015, but he remains a decent competitor in this kind of grade.

Southwell perhaps is not for every horse, but Lady Perignon has shown she can deal with the Fibresand surface and is one for the shortlist in the sunbets. co.uk Handicap.

Third over seven furlongs here in October, she was not beaten far in a blanket finish over a mile at Lingfield last time after trying to make all.

Switching back in distance here could be key.

Copain De Classe should go well in the Ludlow Club Chase at the Shropshire venue, while Galashiels trainer Katie Scott can strike gold with Chain Of Beacons at Musselburgh.
