Barry McElduff’s video tweet was ‘inexusable and indefensible’

Louise Thompson:There are far more important issues facing this country than whether a tube with a loaf on his head is stupid or offensive. You lot want to get hot under the collar about something? How about a man with a heart attack waiting five days for a bed in hospital?

Stephen Bennett: I do shout and complain about that as well, Louise. When was the last time this idiot voted against the NHS cuts? When did he last vote against any Tory austerity? Oh, that’s right. He has never, ever voted against the Tory cuts.

Yvonne McNeilly: He’s sick.

Lisa Knuist: He should be sacked, never mind resign. Disgusting man.

Jim Leonard Snr: No, of course not. Though closed minds will say otherwise. Has it come to the stage where you have to think of everything you say and do because you might offend someone? Stop preaching hatred and get on with life. The Troubles are long over.

Stephen Bennett: He should resign for being an idiot. I don’t see any problem in that. Also: if he does go, he will be replaced by a Sinn Fein MP, so I don’t see a problem with it.

Andrew Millen: Question: what constructive reason would anyone have for placing a loaf of bread on their head?

Anthony McElwee: No. It was just a poor attempt at humour, with unintended connotations. Are people offended every time they see a loaf of Kingsmill?

Nigel Charlesworth: Sick. But I can tell you that some depraved people will think this was hilarious.

Damien McKee: In one word: yes.

Ian Drexel : So, when’s he getting the sack? Unless he does, Sinn Fein are a bunch of useless cowards. Eugene McDevitt: I’d be surprised if he doesn’t get the sack. Wait and see.

Davy McGimpsey: Yes, he should.

Freddie Quinn: Typical neanderthal. No, he shouldn’t be sacked. He should be educated like all our politicians on manners, respect and class.

Lorraine Armstrong:

He should get the boot. He is a disgrace. But what can you expect from that crowd?
