Clubs praised for offering free admission to rescheduled ties
THERE will be free admission to the three rescheduled Danske Bank Premiership matches that were abandoned on January 2 due to Storm Eleanor.
Ballymena United’s trip to Cliftonville, Glentoran’s match at home to Warrenpoint Town and Glenavon’s visit to Ards will be free to all spectators when they are replayed over the next few weeks.
In addition, the referees and match officials have collectively agreed to waive their match fees for the three rescheduled games.
Northern Ireland Football League managing director Andrew Johnston said: “We want to express our thanks to the clubs in their decision to put the supporters first and make the rescheduled fixtures from the abandoned games free admission.
“Thanks also to the Premiership referees for their kind gesture ahead of these three fixtures.”
Cliftonville against Ballymena United, at Solitude, will be played on Tuesday, February 6, with Glentoran taking on Warrenpoint Town three weeks later on Tuesday, February 27 at The Oval — both games will kick off at 7:45pm.
The third rescheduled match between Ards and Glenavon is yet to have a date set.
Meanwhile, two postponed games have been given rescheduled dates.
Linfield’s trip to Coleraine will be played on Tuesday, January 30, while Carrick Rangers will host Dungannon Swifts on Tuesday, February 27, both with 7:45pm kick-offs.
