Super Saint Calvados can go marching in despite top weight challenge

- BY ANITA CHAMBERS

SAINT Calvados can shrug off the burden of top weight in the Betfred Mobile Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at Newbury.

A three-timer winner over hurdles in France, the five-year- old made a dream start for Harry Whittington at this track at the end of last month, winning a four-runner event by nine lengths.

There were only two finishers that day, but it is hard to find fault with the style in which Saint Calvados won and he should be capable of more.

Kupatana can strike for Nicky Henderson in the Betfred TV British Stallion Studs EBF Mares’ National Hunt Novices’ Hurdle.

A point-to-point winner last March, Kupatana changed hands for £120,000 the following month and connections will surely be disappointed if she is not in the mix here.

Dissavril is one to watch as she makes her debut for Emma Lavelle in the Listed 188Bet Alan Swinbank Mares’ Standard Open NH Flat Race at Market Rasen.
