DUP’s Sammy Wilson is slammed over ‘hissy fit’ jibe at Dublin
Jason Foster: Such an ignorant man should not be in government.
Caoimhin Mac Giolla Iosa: Gregory Campbell?
Jason Foster: We could probably just put the entire DUP under that particular umbrella, to be fair.
Smyth Harper: Jason Foster, conveniently forgetting those other people who have had proven links with bombings and shootings over many years and are now in government?
Jason Foster: Smyth Harper, I’m not forgetting anyone. Alas, that is part of our peace process. However, being intolerant is something the DUP are particularly specialised at. A lot of pain was caused on both “sides” and it’s childish to resort to “them-and-us” when our Government, as it stands, has failed us. Personally, I don’t think the DUP, or Sinn Fein, should have a seat at the top table — they’re all too focused on the past and aren’t bringing us viable options for our future.
Smyth Harper: Jason Foster, I absolutely agree with your last paragraph: both Sinn Fein and the DUP are focused on the past — although that is what continuously gets them elected.
Adrian McGroggan: So, the serious question: should Mr Wilson be asked to resign for this latest in a continuous display of disrespect and contempt as a party representative for the DUP? Or do the people of Northern Ireland still want to be represented by people such as this? The Belfast Telegraph should carry out a poll into the question.
Lorene McDowell: Once again, the mouth was in gear before the brain. Think before you speak. You are representing the people — not just yourself, Sammy.
Brian Dane: Just shows his ignorance and disrespect for other politicians.
Maria McGrath: Sammy should be in London, concentrating on the defence the British Government is submitting on Bombardier at the ITC.
Pattaffy Wilson: He lets NI down every time he opens his mouth.
