McGeeney stays upbeat despite injury concerns

ARMAGH manager Kieran McGeeney is continuing to battle against an horrific injury list that shows no sign of abating any time soon.

Having seen Niall Grimley and Ethan Rafferty make impressive returns after spells out of action, McGeeney now has worries over Andrew Murnin, Brendan Donaghy, Aaron McKay and Aidan Forker as his team focus on stepping up their bid for promotion.

“We have four or five injuries there, which is always a worry, but the fact that some people have come back is encouraging,” stated McGeeney (below).

Last year Armagh forfeited the right to reach Di- vision Two when they were beaten in their last home game by Tipperary and Mc

Geeney is anxious that what he perceives to be the failings from that campaign are not replicated this time round.

“When we got to the closing stages of games we were possibly losing them by a couple of points or maybe drawing them,” reflected McGeeney.

“Obviously we had comfortable enough wins over Sligo and Westmeath but last weekend against Longford we were fortunate to get the two points, but I will take a win any day.”

The Orchard County will return to action with an away game at Offaly on Sunday week.

After that, they will host Derry at the Athletic Grounds on March 3 and then take on Fermanagh at Brewster Park, Enniskillen on March 18.
