Rodgers calling on his Bhoys to finish campaign with a flourish

- BY RONNIE ESPLIN

CELTIC boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to defend the Ladbrokes Premiership title in style as he prepares for the visit of Dundee tonight.

The Parkhead club cemented their position at the top of the table on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

The champions have 10 league games remaining and are still in the William Hill Scottish Cup where they have a home quarter-final tie against Championship side Morton on Saturday.

First, Rodgers (below) wants his side to keep striding towards the club’s seventh successive title with a win over Neil McCann’s Taysiders, who have lost three times to the Hoops this season and who have never beaten the Ulsterman’s side since he took over at Parkhead in 2016. He said: “I know it has been difficult at times for Neil and his team but they have shown, in particular away from home at times, that they can get a result.

“So there is no complacency, we are entering into the last 10 games of the season now and we want to win every one of them if we possibly can.

“Our approach is always to win the next game. Dundee are always a tough side to play so we just prepare for the next game.

“They play the game with confidence, they want to build the game from behind, they have good technical players, they want to play an offensive game.

“The games we have played against them this season have been tough games.

“We have come out on top but they are always a team you have to concentrate against, do your work defensively and take your opportunities.

“So we don’t underestimate them.”

Meanwhile, new Bhoys signing Marvin Compper could be involved for the first time against Dundee.

The 32-year-old German defender picked up a calf injury training in Dubai in January after signing from RB Leipzig during the transfer window but is fit again, as is on-loan winger Patrick Roberts, who has recovered from a hamstring problem which has kept him out since November.

Kristoffer Ajer will be assessed after picking up a head knock after clashing with fellow defender Jozo Simunovic in the 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.

Mikael Lustig, meanwhile, is suspended after being sent off in the same game, while Nir Bitton (knee), Dedryck Boyata (groin), Craig Gordon (knee), Leigh Griffiths (calf ), Jonny Hayes (broken leg), Anthony Ralston (knee), Stuart Armstrong (hernia) are still out. Available: Marvin Compper could make his Celtic debut
