Michael Fee: Why is anyone surprised? Republicans proving daily that their cry for respect and equality is just a sham and a lie. They are the masters of fake propaganda.

Sorley Alastar: Brian Robinson is hero-worshipped every year on the Shankill Road with a parade and a wreath-laying ceremony. It is attended by thousands. What was his crime? Shooting dead an innocent man who was a member of no organisation, his only crime was being a Catholic. Paddy was a good friend of mine and would have done anything for anyone. He was helping a friend that morning, which was typical of him.

Michael Fee: Sorley Alastar, no playground named after Robinson. Sorry to hear about your friend. All the more reason things like this should not be allowed to happen.

Declan Sarsfield: I’m a republican and don’t agree with this at all. It’s mind-boggling who let this go ahead. I, for one, would not be happy my kids playing in a kids’ area named after someone involved in the Troubles.

Peter McCallion: Michael Fee, ‘propaganda’ is the spreading of biased, or misleading, information for political gain. If they spread ‘fake propaganda’, then they are spreading balanced, factual information. Words are important. Blaming ‘themuns’ is importanter.

Aine Green: There are streets named after Bobby Sands all over the world. Do children not walk on streets?

Declan Sarsfield: Aine Green, seriously? A child’s area? What had this man got to do with kids? Why not something as gaeilge, like Tir Na Og (meaning ‘land of the young’)? Not someone who was involved in the Troubles.
