Same-sex cake row: activist who placed order did nothing wrong, court told

-

Rebecca Cairns:

It’s not a Christian bakery. It’s a bakery. A bakery can’t be Christian, because it’s a business. It can be run by Christians, but it’s not Christian itself. As a business, it has to operate within the law and it’s been found to have broken the law, twice, in two different courts. Get over it. Move on. In your own words, the verdict was God’s will.

Edward Duff:

The courts can get it wrong. And they

have — many times.

Rebecca Cairns:

Not in this case. Besides, they said they would accept the verdict the last time as God’s will. They clearly aren’t as Christian as they say if they suddenly decide God’s will is whatever they want it to be.

Edward Duff:

They are simply stating that God knows everything. He knows what the result is going to be even before the judge opens his mouth to pass the verdict. Every Christian knows that. God’s will is for you to be saved and live life abundantly (John 10:10). And every Christian knows that and can accept whatever the devil throws at them, knowing that God is greater.

Rebecca Cairns:

I’ve been saved, Eddie. Thank you. And God has given me enough conscience to know that discrimination on the basis of someone’s sexual orientation is not something that a Christian would do. It’s actually the opposite of Christ’s message.

Thomas Clarke:

Can’t believe this is still an issue. Tell me this: if someone walked into a bakery owned by a gay man/woman and someone wanted a cake for a church event, would that bakery owner get as much criticism?

Andi Schulz:

A business cannot discriminate against an employee, or customer. A business cannot be run on the grounds of beliefs. A business is a service and a service to everyone — regardless of their background.

Glen Ross:

This same scenario happened in America, only the other way around. Pro-gay bakery refused to make cake with straight slogans across them. Did these people take the bakery to court? No, of course they didn’t. They went to another bakery. End of.
