Sheeran gets in a round of golf ahead of Belfast gig

- BY STAFF REPORTER

Golfer: Ed Sheeran MUSIC superstar Ed Sheeran has been spotted in Co Down taking in a round of golf ahead of his sold-out concert in Belfast.

The Shape of You singer is set to perform in front of 42,000 fans at the Boucher Road Playing Fields tonight, following three sold-out performances in Cork over the Bank Holiday weekend.

With a few days off ahead of the Belfast show, it seems Ed decided the best way to relax was with a round of golf at Ardglass Golf Club in Co Down.

The club posted photos of the singer on its Facebook page yesterday, along with the caption: “Great guy and really good to have him come and play at Ardglass.”

Sheeran will be supported on stage in Belfast by Co Antrim trad band Beoga tonight.

The five-piece previously performed with the star in front of 150,000 people during his headlining set at Glastonbury in 2017.

They also co-wrote his international hit Galway Girl, as well as Nancy Mulligan from Sheeran’s album Divide. Singers Jamie Lawson and Anne-Marie will also be performing.

Concert-goers in Belfast are being advised to ensure they leave plenty of travel time ahead of the huge outdoor gig. Heavy traffic is expected in south Belfast as the Europa League PlayOff semi-final between Linfield and Glentoran will kick off at 7.45pm at nearby Windsor Park.
