‘We pray that those trying to find loved ones finally get closure’

Statement on behalf of the Ruddy family: We want to thank the Dublin Coroner’s Court for the sensitive way the inquest has been carried out.

What has brought us here was the murder of our brother.

Seamus was taken in Paris 33 years ago to the day.

This year for the first time in 33 years we were able to attend Cemetery Sunday and pray at the grave where Seamus rests.

As a family we would like to record our heartfelt appreciation for those who have stood with us over so many years.

The families of the Disappeared at the Wave Trauma Centre have been and continue to be a huge source of strength.

The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims Remains do amazing work and we can’t thank them enough for what they have done in bringing Seamus home.

We also want to thank the French authorities and the Garda for their assistance.

We acknowledge that the people who had the information about where Seamus was buried — we want to thank them for coming forward.

There are three other families whose loved ones were Disappeared still waiting for the people who have information about where they are to talk to the Commission to help bring an end to their suffering.

We appeal to anyone who has information about Joe Lynskey, Columba McVeigh or Robert Nairac to come forward. We pray that they get what we have had.
