Nutt keen for Old Bleach boys to hit back against the title holders

OLD Bleach will aim to come back off the ropes when they face Dunbarton in the Private Greens League Division One’s big game of the day at Randalstown.

Having started the outdoor campaign in impressive style, the Bleach boys were brought down to earth in midweek at Belmont.

The crucial games keep coming with the title holders now due to arrive this afternoon.

Old Bleach’s Michael Nutt said: “We made a great start, bagging 17 points out of 21 from our opening three games. But you never get things easy at Belmont — they are difficult to beat on their home green.

“But we have to put it down as a setback and move on. Dunbarton are champions for a reason — they were the most consistent team last season and have carried on that form.

“So we are under no illusions. This will be another massive test for us, but it’s one we are determined to meet head on.”

Meanwhile, t i t l e hol de r s Whitehead have a chance to reel in high-flying Banbridge at the top of NIBA Division One.

The East Antrim lads have dropped 11 points off the pace, although they have played one game fewer.

Banbridge will not be in action — they were scheduled to face Portadown — due to a bereavement, which gives Whitehead and Bangor an opportunity to bag some much-needed points.

The Seasiders make the trip to Lurgan, while the champions travel to Belfast to face rock-bottom Divis.

In the Provincial Bowling Association, Ballymoney welcome Senior League champions Portrush at Church Street.
