McGlinchey in top form with a five-star display at Mondello Park

AGHADOWEY’S Eunan McGlinchey had a weekend to remember at the Dunlop Masters at Mondello Park, the 20-yearold scooping an incredible five wins from five starts — two in Supersport and three in Supertwin.

McGlinchey is also taking the British Junior 400cc Supersport series by storm with two wins and three second places in the five races to date seeing him lead the championship by 21 points.

He brought that sort of form with him to Mondello, winning Saturday’s Supersport race by 0.155sec from Emmett O’Grady and the first of Sunday’s races by 0.069sec, again from O’Grady.

McGlinchey’s Supertwin victories were more comfortable, taking Saturday’s win by four seconds from Dave Butler, and on Sunday winning the opener by three seconds from Derek Wilson and in the final race winning by a second from Butler.

McGlinchey said: “I didn’t do the final Supersport race as the bike needed a new rear tyre and as I was only doing this meeting because of the big break in BSB, I didn’t think it was worthwhile.

“I am concentrating on the 400cc Junior Supersport class in England.”

In the absence of Masters Superbike Championship leader Charles Stuart, defending champion Richie Ryan took full advantage and rattled off three straight wins to jump into the series lead on 168 points, 15 more than Peter Moloney, who followed Ryan home in all three races to boost his score, with Stuart dropping to third.
