NURSE KATHARINE IS CROWNED MISS NORTHERN IRELAND
A NURSE from Hillsborough has been crowned the Insanity Tan Miss Northern Ireland 2018.
Katharine Walker — Miss Horatio Todd’s — took the title from last year’s winner, Anna Henry from Portglenone, at a glittering gala event at the Europa Hotel in Belfast last night.
The stunning 23-year-old, a statuesque 5ft 7ins tall, impressed the panel of judges on the night with her beauty, charm and personality, giving her the winning edge over the other finalists to acquire the coveted crown from Ms Henry.
Posting on social media last week, Katharine said that she was “so lucky to be a part of something so special”.
The Miss Northern Ireland final was hosted by former competition winner Zoe Salmon-Corrie as well as UTV’s Marc Mallett.
Many of the finalists had been sitting school and university exams during the build-up to last night’s grand final at the Europa Hotel in Belfast.
Heat winners were selected at competitions held across Northern Ireland, from Dungannon to Bangor this year.
The extensive prize package includes an all expenses paid trip to the Miss World competition which will take place in Sanya, China, on December 8.
And to help ensure that the new Miss Northern Ireland cuts a stylish figure at the Miss World competition, she will take home a wardrobe of designer dresses as part of the prize package.
Katharine will also enjoy a modelling contract with ACA Models, and treats including a year’s supply of beauty treatments, a bespoke personal training package, and the use of a car for a year.
Addressing the audience at last night’s awards ceremony, organiser Alison Clarke, who was crowned Miss Northern Ireland in 1982, said that this year’s group of finalists had been “one of the best” that the competition had seen.
