We’ve got the tools to clean up

- BY ROY HARRIS

RACING continues at the Isle of Man TT this morning with the 4-lap Supersport race, scheduled for a 10.45am start, and won last year by Michael Dunlop on his MD Racing Yamaha.

The Ballymoney man also holds the lap record for the class, set as far back as 2013 with a lap of 128.666mph when he rode a PTR prepared Honda.

Highly talented Dean Harrison is chasing his second TT win, his first coming in the 2014 Lightweight race and he is on top form after Saturday’s demolition of the Mountain Course outright lap record in the RST Superbike race with his first lap pace astounding, as it has been all through practice week.

On the other hand. Dunlop, after winning that particular race, is chasing his 17th TT win which would put him into equal third in the all-time victories list with sidecar ace Dave Molyneux and chasing John McGuinness on 23 and his uncle Joey on 26.

When asked what a good week would be for Michael Dunlop, the hugely talented, controlled aggressive, single-minded rider said: “Winning everything, if it all comes together we will push the box to try and win. I’m focused on winning and believe we have the tools for the job.”

You can’t argue with that confidence and psychologically he is a formidable opponent for the others to knock off top spot.

Chasing hard this morning will be Peter Hickman (Trooper Triumph by Smiths), Gary Johnson (Raf Reserve and Regular Triumph), Conor Cummins (Padgetts Honda), Lee Johnston (Honda Racing), Josh Brookes (McAms Yamaha), Ivan Lintin (Dafabet Devitt Kawasaki),
