Farmer who died after livestock accident laid to rest
THE funeral of an elderly Co Tyrone farmer who died after an accident at a livestock market took place yesterday.
Mourners gathered at St Mary’s Church in Aughnacloy to pay their final respects to Harry McAnespie.
Mr McAnespie (right), a father-ofthree, passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast on Sunday following an accident involving an animal at Clogher Mart the previous day.
The 80-year-old farmer’s brother, Michael, died in 2007 after being attacked by a bull on his farm near Loughmacrory in Co Tyrone.
Earlier this week, Mr McAnespie’s son Damien spoke of his shock in a tribute posted on social media.
He wrote: “We are completely shocked and devastated by his untimely passing but yet so blessed that he saw us all grow up, get married and have our own children, so many people don’t get that chance.
“We have been so overwhelmed already by the number of people who have helped out.”
He added: “We also want to thank the doctor, paramedics, the NI Air Ambulance Crew and staff at RVH Belfast who tried everything they could to save him.
Following the funeral, interment took place in the adjoining cemetery.
