Mum’s anger as car is damaged in ‘mystery’ incident

- BY MARK BAIN

A BELFAST mother says that her children could easily have been killed after her car suffered extensive damage in an unexplained incident in Holywood on Wednesday.

Angela Hunter had parked her Land Rover at Strand Mews in the town at 9am and returned at 2pm to find the rear of the vehicle “completely and utterly wrecked”.

“No one appears to have seen or heard anything, which is unbelievable as by the look of the car there would have been a lot of noise,” she told the Belfast Telegraph.

“It’s a mystery how this happened and I’m so angry that whoever has done this just left.

“Police have been making house to house calls in the area, but tell me that without a witness it will be almost impossible to do anything about it.”

Ms Hunter said she will be left with a hefty excess to pay from her insurance “unless someone comes forward with any information through no fault of my own”.

“I know if my children had been in the back of the car they could well have been killed.

“There are rear seats in the boot of the vehicle. The impact damage is quite high up on the vehicle, which to me makes it look like something has come down on top of the car.”

Police confirmed they received a report that a parked vehicle had been damaged in Holywood on Wednesday.

They added that the owner of the vehicle was due to attend a local station to record a statement today.

Waterfront Hall, Belfast

WHEN a global megastar comes to town, the people respond to this rare event, and the Waterfront Hall was jam-packed for the return of Kris Kristofferson, the singer, songwriter and actor.

As soon as he took the stage there was a palpable wave of affection throughout the audience for one of the icons of country music, whose songs will forever be high on the list of this particular genre.

It was not quite ‘Sing-along-a-Kris’, but most of the audience knew almost every word of the songs, not only his but of other high-profile songwriters, and they made their voices heard.

At the start the enthusiasm was such that Kristofferson (above) could have sung the phone directory to universal approval, but the concert and the crowd settled down, and he displayed his remarkable talent in making the most of the meaning
