If you’re into Victorian steampunk, if the idea of ‘The Good Old Days meets The Rocky Horror Show’ raises a wry smile, or if you’re a fan of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge, The Wonder Tales will be right up your street. This rambunctious evening features a radical re-telling of dark faerie tales — all relocated to Northern Ireland and Donegal. The show promises songs and shivers, and isn’t suitable for those under 12. For details, contact the box office on tel: 4272 8808.

Lyric Theatre, Belfast Tonight and tomorrow, 8pm

Do you have a happy place, where you retreat when life gets tough? Welcome to the world of three sisters in the rural town of Ballyarby. Except it all exists within their front room. With their father Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a giant whose solitude is shattered by an invasion of fairytale characters who’ve been banished from their kingdom by an evil Lord. Determined to save their home — not to mention his — the giant cuts a deal with the Lord and sets out to rescue the princess to be Lord’s bride. This family-friendly musical is inspired by the Shrek film trilogy. With great comic timing, perfect satire and perfectly-captured characters, it warns against judging people by their appearances alone and that no man is an island. For details, contact the box office on tel: 8224 7831.
