CLASSICAL Putting the spotlight on kids

Portico in Portaferry is running a summery Sails and Sounds Festival. As part of the programme, Northern Ireland Opera is joining in the fun by running a special Imagine! event tomorrow.

Throughout an interactiv­e morning of music, art and craft, the children will go on a journey of playful engagement with themes of identity, discovery and fantasy, led by the singers of the Northern Ireland Opera Studio, who will perform music from a variety of fairytale operas and other operatic works for children.

The event is suitable for children of primary school age, and all children must be accompanie­d by an adult.

Tickets cost £7.50/£5 but are limited, so please book early to avoid disappoint­ment.

The Mac, Belfast

Ruth Corry )isa harpist based in her home city of Belfast.

She plays a wide range of styles, with music from Ireland and across the British Isles, as well as popular and modern harp compositio­ns.

Ruth released her debut album last August, and you can hear her live at the Mac when she gives a recital at lunchtime today.

The concert is free and open to all.
