Only God can pardon those who commit sin

-

IN recent days, a new law to disregard convictions, of yester year, for homosexual offences in Northern Ireland came into ef fect, with ‘gay pardons’ being granted to ever y lawbreaker, whether liv ing or dead.

A spokesperson for the Department of Justice tells us that: “Convictions ( homosexual) that are disregarded will be considered as never having happened and will no longer appear on criminal records, or in any criminal record checks.”

It seems one pardon af ter another is offered to homosexuals once convicted of sexual offences, under historical laws, but regarded in 2018 as “never having happened”.

You honestly couldn’t make this up. Excuse me, but politicians are fast asleep if they honestly think they can revoke and rescind God’s inerrant and infallible laws and then exonerate ever y lawbreaker. You cannot edit the law of God.

Those who were guilty of illegal and unbiblical homosexual practices in the past, before God, are still guilty, just as are those who still commit such acts.

God defines, in the Bible, the practice of homosexualit y as a sin. It is a distor tion of his created order and a violation of his revealed will. This is not my assessment, but his.

While politicians may dare, at their peril, to refute it, not one legislator has the power to pardon sin, whether past sin or present sin. Only God can give f ull and free pardon for sin.

Politicians can shout “pardon” at their worldly confessional box any time, but what the divine judge says about his laws, which have stood the test of time, “are forever settled in heaven”.

DONALD J MORRISON Inverness ists, as if there were any, I have no doubt that Nelson would have written an article condemning them as well.
