O’Connor makes Milltown return to bolster ’Point midfield ranks
DANSKE BANK PREMIERSHIP WARRENPOINT Town have made their sixth signing of the summer after bringing former Derry City midfielder Ciaran O’Connor back to Milltown for the new season.
The 22-year old was previously with the Point in 2014 when he joined them on loan from Dundalk, and he helped them avoid relegation from the Danske Bank Premiership with five goals in 17 appearances.
Despite his relatively young age, O’Connor (below) is an experienced player, having had spells as a youth player with Glasgow Rangers, Quay Celtic and Rock Celtic.
After that he was a regular in the League of Ireland with several clubs, with stints at Dundalk, Derry City, Longford Town and Bohemians.
The young midfielder was last with Finn Harps, where he scored three goals in 16 appearances.
O’Connor is an attacking midfielder who will add some goals from the middle of the park for Warrenpoint.
He will strengthen an already strong midfield corps that has been boosted with the summer signings of Fra McCaffrey and Matthew Lynch.
“I am delighted to welcome Ciaran back to the club for his second spell,” said Warrenpoint’s delighted manager Stephen McDonnell.
“Ciaran is a top player with so much potential. He will be another great addition to our squad — I look forward to working with him.”
