Shock as Boa Constrictor eats pigeon in London

- BY STAFF REPORTER

“Through it all I kept feeding him whenever I could, it was all I had to keep me going, that and my faith.”

The family remained at Rhys’ side in hospital in Birmingham until he finally lost his fight for life aged just seven and a half months old.

Kelly continued: “You could sense it in the air, it was really unusual. It was a terrifying but sacred experience because we were there as a family and we knew it was his last few hours and it had to be so, so special.

“It was honestly unreal, it was like an out of this world experience and I felt Rhys’ spirit rise up, it was incredible. You know, he never knew hurt, he only ever knew he was adored from the moment he was born to the moment he died.

“The times that I could feed Rhys and see his wee smiling face, he was perfect. And those memories are perfect.”

Information about breastfeeding can be found on the Public Health Agency’s website, www.breastfedbabies.org. PEDESTRIANS were left astounded as a snake was witnessed swallowing a pigeon in a London street.

As the Boa Constrictor devoured the bird, bystanders in High Road, Leytonstone, alerted the RSPCA.

A spokeswoman from the animal charity told London’s Evening Standard that it appeared someone had fed the dead pigeon to the reptile.

RSPCA inspector Rebecca Bedson said she had taken the snake to a wildlife centre where it is currently being assessed. It is believed to be an escaped or abandoned pet.

“I’m very keen to find out how he came to be in such a dangerous situation,” she said. “Exposed like that on a street could have meant anything might have happened to him.”

Dave Fawbert, who tweeted a photo of the snake coiled tightly around the pigeon, commented: “100% eating the pigeon, it had its jaw open, wrapped around it, and the head was halfway in already.”
