Harte: we will be ready for Croke clash

TYRONE manager Mickey Harte insisted he has no complaints about his side’s tight seven day turnaround before this Sunday’s All-Ireland semi-final against Monaghan in Croke Park.

Tyrone ended a 45-year wait for a win in Ballybofey by thumping Donegal by seven points (2-17 to 1-13), sparking an on-pitch celebration by delirious Red Hands fans.

Now Harte (below) face his near neighbours and opposing manager Malachy O’Rourke who lives just a couple of miles away and is a club mate in Errigal Ciaran.

“That is the way it turned out in the calendar and the fact that it is the same for everybody means we can’t complain about it,” said Harte.

“I think anyone would love to be playing in a quarter-final one week and a semi-final the next week. I don’t think anyone would give out about that at all.”

“The big thing is, we have to get our feet back on the ground because no cups were handed out here, no titles won, no medals.

“It’s just a stepping stone to the semi-final of the All-Ireland and its a dangerous place to be — beaten semi-finalists are forgotten very quickly. So this is a huge match next week.

“There are only seven days so we can enjoy this for seven hours if we are lucky. After that, it’s down to basics and preparing for the next game.”
