Pogba happy to still be at United: Jose

MANXMAN Conor Cummins claimed the big opening win of the MCE Ulster Grand Prix yesterday as he sped to victory in the Supersport race at Dundrod.

In an afternoon blighted by heavy rain showers that resulted in the race being red flagged and restarted, Cummins, on a wet, but drying road, led home local rider Adam McLean on the McAdoo Kawasaki and pre-race favourite Dean Harrison.

For Cummins, this was his first UGP victory since 2009. He said afterwards: “It wasn’t ideal conditions out there, half wet, half dry, but the Padgetts Honda never missed a beat and it is a terrific feeling to stand on the top step here at Dundrod once again and I dedicate this to my ill team mate Bruce Anstey.”

McLean, from Tobermore, went on to record his first Dundrod victory in the Supertwin race with a lights to flag victory, which he dedicated to the memory of his former team-mate James Cowton who lost his life in an accident at the Southern 100 on the Isle of Man last month.

Working hard: Paul Pogba PAUL Pogba is happy to be back at Manchester United, his manager Jose Mourinho said, despite speculation that the midfielder is unsettled at Old Trafford.

The France international returned to training with United on Monday as a World Cup winner following his exploits in Russia this summer.

However, reports earlier this week suggested that Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, was attempting to engineer a move to Barcelona for his client.

United have no intention of selling Pogba, however.

“My perception, he arrived Monday, happy, proud, a desire to work,” the United manager said ahead of tonight’s opening Premier League game of the season against Leicester City.

“He worked amazingly well Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. He’s one of the players that I have to speak to, to see how physically and mentally he feels.

“But it’s the same conversation as with (Ashley) Young, (Marouane) Fellaini, (Jesse) Lingard, it’s the same,” Mourinho added, referring to other players who have only just returned after post-World Cup holidays.
