PSNI broke own rules by attending Pride

-

THIS year the PSNI once again took part in one of the most political parades in Belfast while wearing uniform. TheparadeIrefertoisPride.

They say their participation shows support against hate crime towards that community and that it has helped those affected by hate crimes come forward.

If this is the case that’s all good and well, but they (the PSNI) are supposed to be impartial and treat and show the same respect towards all communities, regardless of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, association with a national minority, disability, age, sexual orientation, marital or family status, property, birth or any other status. This is from their own code of ethics.

The Orange Order and the Protestant culture and traditions are probably the most attacked organisation, culture and traditions within Northern Ireland.

A question I find myself asking is, are some hate crimes towards some cultures and communities okay in the eyes of the PSNI?

The PSNI is supposed to be impartial, is it not? Maybe the Police Ombudsman should be looking into these breaches of the PSNI’s own code of ethics and take the necessary actions so that this does not happen in future.
