Free Presbyterian Church urges followers to reject Pope’s visit

-

Edith McConnell: He’s not the first Pope to visit Ireland. The Bible says love thy neighbour. Love is what God wants people to do. Nobody has to go to see him, but I’m tired of all this hate in the world. We are all just passing through. I want to live in peace. Remember: we all pray to the same God.

Debbie Wilson: Generalisation. We don’t all pray.

Norma Bothwell: Ha, ha. Love thy neighbour. We are human — not programmed robots.

Sam Rodgers: How about people just do what they want? I say welcome, enjoy and safe travels.

Marnie Rose: Exactly, Sam. If he wants to visit Lisburn, I’ve the perfect accommodation for him.

Cheryl Lou: I agree. I honestly think should have come north. A lot of people would love to see him without having to travel, especially the elderly.

Gertie Connolly: Free Presbyterians: mind your own business.

James Thornwell: Why is it not their business?

Gertie Connolly: James, well, the Pope is not coming to the six counties. Do you not get it?

James Thornwell: Gertie, what has the six counties gottodowithit? Roy Liddle: Rev Ian Paisley was complaining about potpourri all those years ago. This is all a huge misunderstanding.

Dave Howitt: I met him once. He was holding a Raleigh.

Liam Mac Uaid: The only thing to do when confronted with an attitude like this is to say a rosary every night and light a candle each day asking for our lady to intercede to open their hearts. Bridgeen McCrystal: Does anyone really care what they think?

Bill Brown: I may not agree with Catholicism, but people of all faiths (and none) should be made welcome.

Perry Moore: One of the greatest ways of loving your neighbour is sharing the Gospel and the truth: Jesus saves from all sin by faith alone in Christ alone, not by works, or belonging to any Church.
