Linfield boss Healy backs Roy Carroll after handshake storm

-

John Murdock: Cliftonville should get their own house in order before criticising others. Lack of respect for the anthem of the country in which they choose to play. Nothing more needs to be said.

Colm Kilbane: Northern Ireland doesn’t have an anthem.

Gary Ryan: Spot on, John Murdock.

Chris Quigley: When all else fails, whataboutery will surely win the day, eh John?

Cathal Keeshan: John Murdock, not their national anthem.

Eamonn John Maguire: Exactly. Show some respect.

Tony Chivers: Cathal Keeshan, it doesn’t matter what national anthem is playing. It’s respectful to stand for it. Happens in every other sport. Happens at the Olympics; when one anthem plays, you don’t see the silver and bronze medallists with your attitude — “Oh, well. It’s not my anthem, so I won’t stand in respect.”

Mo Ruddy: Tony Chivers, they did stand for it.

Paul Johnson: Fair play to him.

Tony Chivers: Come on, Mo. They showed a complete lack of respect and you know it. They made a mountain about the anthem before the final was even played.

Paul McMorrow: Roy Carroll and David Healy would have a point if they were English, but they aren’t. Get a proper national anthem for everyone.

Alistair Mitchell: What country is God Save The Queen the national anthem for then, Paul? Enlighten us all.

Alan McDaid: Whataboutery doesn’t justify

Roy’s childish behaviour.

Gordon Hamilton: Well said, Healy.

David Boland: Every individual has their own opinion as to who is worthy of their respect and, obviously, Roy felt the current crop of Cliftonville players are not. Maybe Cliftonville would like to explain their recent actions. Surely, such an inclusive club wouldn’t have been openly disrespectful, would they?
