Huge success for Game of Thrones at awards night

GAME of Thrones was the big winner at the 2018 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, taking home seven of the 15 awards it was nominated for.

The HBO drama filmed largely in Northern Ireland won Outstandin­g Music Compositio­n For A Series (Original Dramatic Score) for the episode The Dragon And The Wolf.

It also won:

• Outstandin­g Stunt Coordinati­on For A Drama Series, Limited Series Or Movie.

• Outstandin­g Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes for the episode Beyond The Wall.

• Outstandin­g Production Design For A Narrative Period Or Fantasy Program (One Hour Or More) for the episode Dragonston­e.

• Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (one hour).

Some category winners have yet to be announced.

The Creative Arts Emmys are presented in recognitio­n of technical and other similar achievemen­ts in American television programmin­g.

It was a landmark night for diversity with black actors winning all four awards for TV series guest performanc­es for the first time.

US comedian Tiffany Haddish was honoured for her turn hosting Saturday Night Live while fellow comic Katt Williams scooped the guest comedy actor award for his appearance in comedy series Atlanta.

In the equivalent drama series categories Samira Wiley won for The Handmaid’s Tale and Ron Cephas Jones was also recognised for This Is Us.

The Assassinat­ion Of Gianni Versace won four prizes while The Crown, The Handmaid’s Tale and The Marvellous Mrs Maisel each won three. The main Emmy awards ceremony takes place on September 17.
