Second man due in court over horror road crash in which young woman died
A SECOND male is to appear in court in connection with a fatal road traffic collision that left one person dead and two others seriously injured.
The disclosure was made during a video-link appearance at Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court of Padraig Toher (28), from Ballyconnell, Co Cavan.
He is currently remanded in custody accused of unlawfully killing Natasha Carruthers (23) in the crash at Lisnaskea Road, Derrylin on October 7.
He is also accused of causing grievous bodily injury to two others traveling in the car with Natasha by dangerous driving and damaging a car, as well as failing to stop, remain and report after an accident had occurred.
It is further alleged he was in possession of a mental bar as an offensive weapon, was concerned in the supply of cocaine, and perverted the course of justice by arranging to have repairs carried out on a BMW car involved in the collision.
The case was originally treat-

ed as a tragic accident, but following forensic investigations, it was re-categorised as a murder inquiry.
At the most recent court appearance, a prosecuting lawyer said the case was on target for a committal hearing to transfer for trial, but in the meantime, “a second male is to be brought before the court”.
It is anticipated this will happen within a matter of weeks.
District Judge Michael Ranahan listed a committal hearing for Toher to take place next month.
