Masked gang torch victim’s car after burgling his home

A BELFAST man was pushed to the ground and threatened with hammers in a raid on his home.

A gang of three masked thugs cut the power to the property at Mill Valley North before forcing their way in, where they threatened the victim on Thursday night.

They then searched the home, taking a sum of money and the keys to a blue Honda car.

They left in the vehicle, which was found a short time later burnt out in Ardoyne.

The occupant sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident but was left badly shaken, police said.

Detective Sergeant Sam McCallum said: “The men left the scene in the car which was located on fire a short time later at Ardoyne Place.

“The occupant sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident but was left badly shaken.”

Police have urged anyone with informatio­n to contact them.

Detective Sergeant McCallum said: “I would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Mill Valley North area in the time leading up to the burglary, or who saw the blue Honda Civic being driven between Mill Valley North and Ardoyne Place, to contact detectives at Musrgave on 101 quoting reference number 1368 13/09/18.”
