Sister act takes success on road with new pop-up storeinBelfast

THE sisters behind a successful Dungannon fashion boutique and own-brand line of clothing have opened a pop-up shop in Belfast’s Victoria Square.

Anita Mackey and Donna Ross launched My Sister’s Closet in the shopping centre last week, creating three jobs.

The shop, which stocks own-brand My Sister’s Closet and some of the approximately 50 labels from their sister store, The Boudoir, will trade until January 2019.

Anita, who gave up a career as a solicitor to start The Boudoir in 2009 in the Linen Green Shopping Village, said: “We have always been interested in Belfast and we do a lot of fashion events here.

“When we meet customers at those shows they always say they want to come to The Boudoir but it is a little out of the way, so this is a great chance to bring what we have to them.”

Anita said she was approached by an estate agency to come to Belfast when the unit on Arthur Square — which is within Victoria Square — formerly occupied by beauty brand Crabtree and Evelyn became free.

The business has a strong social media following, but Mrs Mackey said that despite exposure to 1.8 million social media users per week, it has no intentions of leaving the bricks and mortar retail sector.

“I think it’s important to provide that shopping experience and I know our customers appreciate that,” she said.

“We can do both. Social media is a great way for us to show what we have in store or to interact when we’re buying our stock in.

“It works to have both, and we have big plans for Dungannon.”
