Police probe after sudden fatality

- BY STAFF REPORTER

A POST MORTEM will be held after a woman in her 20s became the second person to die suddenly in a Cookstown neighbourhood this year.

Police are investigating the sudden death of the woman, named locally as Aine Campbell, after they were called to a home in the town’s Coolnafranky area on Monday morning.

A post mortem is to be carried out to determine the cause of death.

It follows the death of Liam Campbell (36) in Coolnafranky Park in June.

He was found unconscious at a property there.

And in October 2016, Amy Reid (21), who was from Cooknafranky Park, died during a house party in Coagh.

Tributes were paid to Ms Campbell, who was a former pupil of St Patrick’s College, on social media in the wake of the tragedy.

One mourner wrote: “Awful news — will always remember her wee cheeky smile from school.”

Another described Ms Reid as a “lovely looking girl taken too soon”.

On Tuesday, a PSNI spokeswoman said: “Police attended the scene of the sudden death of a woman aged in her 20s in the Coolnafranky area of Cookstown yesterday morning, Monday, 1 October.

“There are no further details at this stage.”

Posts on social media indicated that Aine’s wake will take place at around 6.30pm this evening.

No funeral details had been released at the time of going to press.
