GB men mark Seoul gold 30 years on

Newry Olympic’s lengthy trip to Co Cork to Ashton is the top Irish Trophy tie but North Down’s home game against Portrane runs it close. GREAT Britain are to stage an anniversary game in London this afternoon as they recall their Seoul Olympics gold medal success 30 years on.
Ulstermen Stephen Martin and Jimmy Kirkwood were part of that memorable tournament in Korea, as players like Sean Kerly, Imran Sherwani, Ian Taylor, Paul Barber and Steve Bachelor became household names.
Many of these legends will be attending this afternoon’s game at London’s Lee Valley, where new head coach Danny Kerry will give some new faces the chance to shine against World No.3 Belgium.
Only one Ulsterman is in the squad — Cookstown’s Ian Sloan who plays with Wimbledon.
This will be Ian’s 30th Great Britain cap, along with 33 with England since he switched allegiance from Ireland.
