- BY CLAIRE McNEILLY

THE devastated older brother of a motorcyclist who died in a crash has told him to “rest peacefully” in the knowledge that “all your qualities were known to all who knew you”.

Nathan Doran (22), from Lurgan, was killed after his motorbike collided with a white Ford Focus car on Wednesday at 10.30pm on the Dobbin Road in Portadown.

In a moving tribute, Chris Doran spoke of his heartache and said his “gorgeous wee brother” had been “taken from us, from the world you never got to see”.

Scores of friends have offered condolences to the family of Mr Doran, a former pupil of Lismore Comprehensive in Craigavon, who is understood to have worked close to where the accident took place.

School principal Fiona Kane said Nathan was “a popular, fun-loving student who made a very positive contribution to the life of our school” and said “he will be sadly missed by the entire Lismore school community”.

She added: “Our condolences and prayers are with the Doran family at this difficult time.”

His brother said on Facebook: “My gorgeous wee brother, you have been taken from us, from the world you never got to see, in as much pain as I am, I am glad you’re not. Rest peacefully brother knowing that all your qualities were known to all those who knew you. I love you.”

Offering words of support, Andrew William Doak wrote: “Very sorry to hear this news Chris if he was anything like you then this world has lost a true gentleman.”

Spug Stevenson said: “So sad sorry to hear about Nathan he was a good young fella.”

And Cheryl Collins added: “So so sorry for your loss Chris, Steve and family. I’m so shocked xx.”

DUP MLA Carla Lockhart said she was saddened to hear of the fatality and extended her sympathies to Mr Doran’s family.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased and all who were involved in the accident,” she said.

“Another young life has been taken too soon from within our community and my sympathies are very much with the grieving family and friends at this difficult time.”

Sinn Fein councillor Catherine Nelson said there was “a deep sense of shock in the local community at the news” adding that her thoughts and prayers “are with this man’s family and friends at this sad and difficult time”.

Independent unionist councillor David Jones said he was “sad to learn” the distressing news.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time as they grieve the loss,” he said.

“Please, when you are travelling on the roads at night, take extra care, especially with the dark winter nights drawing in.

“No family wants to have the police knocking at their door, having to receive this type of news.”

The PSNI said it would like to hear from anyone who was travelling on the Dobbin Road at around the time of the collision and who may have captured dashcam footage.

The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 1430 10/10/18.
