Rainbow Heart fires out colourful Oaks warning

RAINBOW Heart may become a familiar name next season after she was introduced into the market for the Investec Oaks following her decisive victory at Newmarket yesterday.

Owned by the Tsui family, whose silks have been carried to Group One glory by Sea Of Class in this year’s Irish and Yorkshire Oaks, the daughter of Born To Sea strengthened her own Classic aspirations when posting an eight-length victory over seven furlongs.

The William Haggas-trained two-year-old was given a 33-1 quote for the Epsom Classic by bookmakers after division one of the Shepherd Compello & EPG Fillies’ Novice Median Auction Stakes.

Haggas said: “She won well and is useful. We were pleased with the way she ran first time. She trained well, and has won comfortably.

“She has got to relax well to get a trip — but she will start over a mile or a mile and a quarter next year, depending how she trains.

“We won’t be going backwards. We could possibly start her at Listed level. We will just see how we are come next April.”

Gerald Mosse took the riding plaudits with a treble, but picked up a two-day whip ban for his nose victory aboard the Mick Channon-trained Pattie (10-1) in the AR Legal Fillies’ Handicap.

The Frenchman said: “I’m not happy, because I got two days’ suspension for hitting my horse in the wrong place — so it is not a good day.

“I don’t like getting a suspension for no reason.”

Owner Bjorn Nielsen has enjoyed a season to savour thanks to the exploits of Stradivarius, and he could have another useful prospect in Ginistrelli — who formed the middle leg of Mosse’s haul when taking the British EBF Novice Stakes by a head.

Nielsen said of the 5-2 winner: “(Trainer) Ed (Walker) thought he would run well, because he had been working well at home.

“He did cost a lot of money, but he is a Frankel and is from a good family. A lot don’t turn out to be Newmarket maiden winners — but at least he has done that, and is something to look forward to next year.”

The Ismail Mohammed-trained Al Fajir Mukbile was rewarded for a string of consistent efforts when completing Mosse’s hat-trick by a nose in the Newmarket Equine Security Nursery Handicap.

Ralph Beckett had high hopes of taking the feature British Stallion Studs EBF Nursery Handicap — but with last-time-out winner Fearsome Warrior rather than Skymax (4-1), who defeated his stablemate by a length.

Beckett said: “I thought they would finish the other way round.”
