Daughter’s surgeon fine example of safe hands we are in
Ihad occasion to call into a shopping centre in Derry the otherdayonmywaytoAltnagelvin Hospital, where I was due to visit two friends.
But, having mapped out what I thought was a carefully prepared itinerary, I found that I had to go with the flow when I was overtaken by events.
Having been ordered to browse through some coats by Mrs Duncan, I was suddenly being advised from all sides as to what I should buy in terms of colour and style and, indeed, what might suit my ‘muscular’ figure.
The cameras came out, requests for selfies almost deafened me and I found myself in a race against the clock to meet the hospital visiting times.
When I got there, who should I meet by chance but Mr Gidwani, the surgeon who recently
performed an operation on my daughter, Suzanne (below, with
yours truly).
It was an unexpected meeting, but I must say I was very impressed with the courtesy, helpfulness and professionalism which I encountered.
I saw at first-hand once again the manner in which the people who continue to provide her and many others with expert care go about their work. Meanwhile, tonight I will be at the Queen’s Hall in Newtownards and tomorrow night I will be performing at the Jordanstown Bowling Club. I have, of course, performed at the Queen’s Hall before — it has been a popular venue for concerts for many years now — and I am certainly no stranger to Jordanstown Bowling Club.
I will be joined on stage in the Queen’s Hall by Brian Coll, Keelan and the Five Star Country Band, as well as several other guest artists, while in Jordanstown tomorrow night Susan McCann, Crawford Bell, Cowboy Larry, Boxcar Brian and Country Harmony will be among the entertainers.
