Mother’s heartache after IRSP remove wreath from spot where Army son died

-

David Brown: Another great example of a “shared future” from republicans. Disgrace.

Peadar Mac Conchoille:

David Brown, read the story. The poppy wreath was removed, not destroyed, not thrown away, but given to somebody to be returned.

David Brown: Peadar Mac Conchoille, you took that well.

Peadar Mac Conchoille:

David Brown, how silly of me. Now I realise you

only get your jollies by annoying people.

David Brown: Just sad how a memorial to a fallen hero has to be removed for its own safety and how you get on your high horse about how it wasn’t destroyed, or discarded. A nice touch to give it to the Shankill Road remembrance garden, yes. But he didn’t die on the Shankill. He died at Divis.

Sean McNally: David Brown, your post says a lot about you. The rest of us see tragedy and an upset mother. You see an opportunity to troll and reduce the symbolism of the poppy to a means to act like a bully.

Richard Todd: It’s a bit like republicans having a parade down the Shankill Road, laying a poppy wreath on the Falls.

Cheryl Lou: Richard Todd, it’s not really, though.

Richard Todd: You know what I mean. Divided over religion.

Karen Milo: This was a

human being. A mother still grieving. And Northern Ireland has shown the world it’s still bitter. Unfortunate for the decent among us.

Shirley Crawford: The poor mother. Hate to see anyone’s grief, but it would have been destroyed (or, worse still, be hidden and placed on next year’s bonfire with his name and televised around the world). At least it was there for a short time. This is not a trailer played out on Netflix — it’s real life, real hard grief.

Muriel Brush: So sad.

Ian Hall: Republican bigotry and intolerance.

Robert Maginnis: IRSP hold your heads in shame. Tell you what: the next republican one I see, I will lift it. Is that okay?

Christopher McCabe:

Robert Maginnis, will you? I don’t think you will.

Rory O’Neill: Thought that he was doing the decent thing, for once, until the usual sectarian rant started.
