Giants won’t get carried away by hot streak, says grounded Keefe

- BY ADAM McKENDRY

BELFAST Giants head coach Adam Keefe insists his side aren’t getting ahead of themselves despite their red-hot form in the Elite League.

The Giants have won 13 of their last 14 matches in all competitions, including seven of their opening eight games of a 16-game away stretch in the league.

Their latest away victories came over the weekend as they dispatched the Fife Flyers, Glasgow Clan and Dundee Stars on consecutive nights for an impressive six-point weekend, led by a five-goal effort from captain Blair Riley.

Keefe’s Giants lead the league by four points heading into their double-header against conference rivals the Nottingham Panthers, who are second, and defending champions the

Cardiff Devils.

But Keefe (above) has instilled a one game at a time mentality in the changing room and is adamant they won’t get complacent because of their recent form.

“We’re just checking these things off one at a time, it’s a big long away stretch we’ve got so we’re approaching it one game at a time,” said Keefe.

“Now we rest and recover and get ready to go again for another big weekend, and that’s the way we have to approach it.

“Before you know it the away swing is over and if we come out of it alright then we’re in a good spot.”
